Aug 2006 – Present Perceptive Informatics/PAREXEL (ex Clinphone PLC) Nottingham

  • Systems Engineer (UNIX/Oracle Team – RTSM Infrastructure)

    Provide support and administration for IBM Power4/6 AIX systems running Oracle 10g, Linux and Windows server management, Capacity planning, Collating and managing in-house knowledgebase and documentation systems and processes including out-of-hours on-call support. Validation, testing and implementation of new systems, TIBCO systems support. System monitoring via IBM Tivoli Monitoring and in-house scripts/tools. Incident management and 3rd line customer support.

    Support and maintenance of Data Centre Systems, Rolling out software to Desktop clients and remote Citrix users. Managing the storage of client project data and looking after the IBM TSM Backup systems. Actively monitoring systems health and identifying any potential bottlenecks. Blackberry Enterprise Server administration, Documentation for updates to systems and validation/testing of new hardware. Liaising with 1st and 2nd line support teams as well as external vendors.

    Sep 2004 – Jul 2006 Independent Contract work including:

  • Ramesys E-Business Services as a Remote Support Engineer
  • ICM Computer Group as a Field Service Engineer (contractor)
    Remote support of school networks and Field service/repair of everything from desktop PCs and Servers to Printer and POS equipment.

  • Cybercafe Manager/Network Administrator/Remote E-Learning ILT Technician
    Managing the IT/Network for a Community Resource centre, two IT rooms used for web browsing and E-learning courses. later being seconded by West Notts College for support of ~10 external adult learning centres using VPN technology to link with the main college network. Delivering training on the Internet/PC Use to community groups and private bookings. Staff Training, Stock Control and basic accounting/banking of daily takings.
